Temperature

What we need before a reefer moves.

A refrigerated container is not a dry box that happens to be cold. It is a running machine with a fuel or power dependency, and the things that go wrong with it go wrong quietly.

Set point

The set point, in writing

Send the temperature with the tender, not after pickup. We set what you tell us and we do not infer it from the commodity. If the booking and your instruction disagree, we stop and ask rather than choose.

Power

Genset or plug

Off the ramp a reefer runs on a genset while it is on the road and on shore power when it is standing. Every handover between the two is a moment the box can end up unpowered, so tell us whether you have a plug at your dock.

Air

Supply air, not box air

The number on the controller is supply air, which is what the unit is delivering, not the temperature of the cargo in the middle of the pallet. They are not the same reading and they move at different speeds.

If your load is temperature sensitive enough that a gap of an hour matters, say so at tender. It changes whether we schedule it as a drop or keep a driver with it, and that is a decision worth making before the box is on a chassis rather than after.

Our lanes

What we run, and what we do not.

Setara Transport runs
  • Refrigerated container drayage off CN Brampton and CPKC Vaughan
  • Pickup and delivery across the Greater Toronto Area
  • Ontario lanes and Ontario to Quebec
  • Truckload on the same lanes
Lanes we do not run
  • Cross-border into the United States
  • Long haul beyond Ontario and Quebec

Setara Transport does not run these. Customs is arranged through a licensed customs broker partner.

Questions

Before you tender.

Do you pull reefers off CN Brampton and CPKC Vaughan?
Yes. Import and export reefers off both ramps, delivered across the GTA and Ontario.
Who sets the temperature?
You do. Send the set point with the tender.
Who moves the container?
A load accepted by Setara Transport is not passed to another carrier without your written consent. We do not re-broker. If we cannot cover a load, we say so when it is tendered.
