Sequence

What has to be true before we can pull.

A container is pullable only when four things line up. When a move slips, it is almost always one of these rather than a shortage of trucks.

All four have to be true
  • The container is grounded and showing available at Vaughan
  • Customs has released the freight
  • The line has released it commercially
  • A usable chassis is under it, or can be
What we tell you instead of guessing
  • Which of the four is missing
  • Who has to lift it, you, the line or customs
  • Whether it changes the delivery day

Customs release is arranged through a licensed customs broker partner. We do not file it and we do not pretend to.

Exports

Going the other way, off Vaughan.

An export runs the chain backwards, and the deadline is the part people underestimate. The sailing date is not your deadline. The terminal cutoff is, and it falls earlier.

1

You have a booking

The line gives you a booking number and an earliest receiving date. Nothing can gate in before that date, however ready your freight is.

2

We bring the empty

We pick up an empty against your booking and bring it to you to load, or we run a street turn where an import empty goes straight onto your export instead of back to the terminal.

3

You load and seal

Seal number and final weight come back to us with the paperwork. A missing seal number or a weight that does not match will stop the box at the gate.

4

We gate in before cutoff

We deliver the loaded container ahead of the terminal cutoff, which is the real deadline. Miss it and the box rolls to the next sailing.

A street turn saves two trips and takes an empty off your per diem early, but it only works when the line approves it and the timing lines up. Ask us before you book a separate empty pickup, because it is worth checking every time.

Our lanes

What we run, and what we do not.

Setara Transport runs
  • Container drayage off CPKC Vaughan and CN Brampton
  • Pickup and delivery across the Greater Toronto Area
  • Ontario lanes and Ontario to Quebec
  • Truckload on the same lanes

A load accepted by Setara Transport is not passed to another carrier without your written consent. We do not re-broker. If we cannot cover a load, we say so when it is tendered.

Lanes we do not run
  • Cross-border into the United States
  • Long haul beyond Ontario and Quebec
  • Port of Montreal container moves

Setara Transport does not run these. Customs is arranged through a licensed customs broker partner.
